Position: Coordinator-Competitive Programs
Responsibilities: The Coordinator will assist the Program Director-RecSport and Sport Clubs with planning, programming, publicizing, and administering the RecSports, Sport Clubs and aquatics programs. Interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees for RecSports and Aquatics. Assisting in preparation of training schedule and training procedures, and in preparation and administration of budgets. Assisting with administrative duties of RecSports; in scheduling of competitive and recreational/intramural/extramural activities; analyzing, evaluating, and solving problems which arise concerning policies and procedures; developing and monitoring risk management plans; maintaining participant statistics and program cost analyses; and maintaining accurate inventory control of equipment. Assisting with the coordination and operations of the Aquatics Program; conducting required lifeguard in-services to ensure certification guidelines; conducting lifeguard in-services to ensure the safety and risk management of pool operations; and following up with all injuries. Assisting with administrative duties of Sport Clubs program; monitoring budgets, money allocations, requests for purchases and inventory of equipment; closely monitoring travel itinerary for clubs; ensuring Sport Club activities are properly staffed; evaluating program publicity; monitoring risk management and liability plan. Conducts general office duties; assisting in maintaining student employee records; maintaining accurate and complete files of the program; communication outlets such as, department publications, website, signage, memos, emails, and phone lists; with preparation for annual report and other reports as may be required. May be required or assigned to drive a University vehicle to perform duties. Perform other duties as may be assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification. May be required to open and/or close a department facility. Responsibilities also require individual to visit satellite facilities.
Requirements: Master's Degree required with 2-3 years pre or post-experience required in related field. Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing. This position will require non-traditional work hours, including evenings and weekends. Valid Driver's License and/or ability to obtain a valid Driver's License. Candidates with certification already confirmed will be given preference: American Red Cross or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor, CPR/AED, First Aid, Licensed official, umpire or referee. Candidates will be expected to either possess or obtain all of the following related certifications within the first year of employment: Valid American Red Cross or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification, and CPR/AED/ First Aid Instructor Certification.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications
Twelve-month, full-time position.
Proposed Starting Date : June 15, 2008. The starting date is negotiable.
