Position: Coordinator-Fitness
Responsibilities: The Coordinator will assist the Coordinator-Fitness with planning, programming, publicizing, and administering the Group Fitness Program. Interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating student fitness employees. Assist with the development and administration of fitness assessment and body fat assessment program; the development and administration of a comprehensive health-testing program in conjunction with School of Kinesiology and Recreation (KNR), Student Health Services, and Wellness; the coordination of the Personal Training Program; the development of inter/intra departmental programs; preparation and administration of budget; and teach a minimum of one group fitness class each semester. Assisting with the coordination of in-house safety programs and policies; coordinate CPR/AED and First Aid Response Program for administrative and student staff; follow-up on all department accident reports; inspect, assess, and maintain all equipment used for the Group Fitness Program; and conduct minor repair and maintenance on all equipment used in the program. Assist with non-credit instruction program (Leisure U.); with programming workshops and clinics for guests; planning non-credit instruction activities related to fitness and wellness; and teaching the Fitness Instructor Training Course. Conduct general office duties by assisting in maintaining student employee records; maintaining accurate and complete files of the program; assisting with all communication outlets such as, department publications, website, signage, memos, emails, and phone lists; and with preparation for annual report and other reports as may be required. May be required or assigned to drive a University vehicle to perform duties. Perform other duties as may be assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification. May be required to open and/or close a department facility. Responsibilities also require individual to visit satellite facilities.
Requirements: Master's Degree required with 2-3 years pre and or post-graduate experience required in related field. Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing. This position will require non-traditional work hours, including evenings and weekends. Ability to demonstrate group fitness techniques. Valid Driver's License and/or ability to obtain a valid Driver's License. Candidates with certification already confirmed will be given preference at time of hire: AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Candidate will be expected to either posses or obtain all of the following related certifications within the first year of employment: CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification and Group Fitness Certification .
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications
Twelve-month, full-time position.
Proposed Starting Date : June 15, 2008. The starting date is negotiable.
